About The Club

The goal of the Hunter Microloan Club is to bring the experience of charitable investment and  global awareness to the wider Hunter College High School community.

We raise money through bake sales at school. Purchasers will have a choice of several microloan investment candidates to put their dollar towards. Say you bought a brownie and decided to put your dollar towards a farm in Tajikistan. If the farmer repaid his microloan (which is the case over 99% of the time), you would receive a free brownie at the second bake sale, held at the end of the loan period, which is about six months.

The goal of the Hunter Microloan club is to help members learn about microfinance while working toward a charitable goal.

Note: because the two co-presidents are graduating in June 2015, we are managing current loans this year and plan to present a check for all repaid loan money to Hunter, as stated in our club charter.
